Op. 31 No. 20

Etude 20 is a staccato study originally written for solo guitar. Heavily chromatic in sections, parts 1b and part 3 are both set at level 4. Part 2 level 5 is very similar but features a few double stops that require i and m together as well as p and m together. There is and optional part 1 (level 8) that sets the melody up an octave, regularly shifts positions, and has some polyphonic passages. Have students play the first few measures on open strings to line up the articulations. It is important that the ensemble adheres to the eighth note rest patterns. This piece works well when performed with the other selections written by Sor.
