Hey Ho, Nobody Home

Region:
USA
Style:
Traditional
Composer:
Traditional English (arr. Rhodes)

This is a beginning level 1 piece that requires students to play open first, second and third strings. The piece uses half, quarter, and whole notes. Guitar 1 sets up with m on string 1 and i on string 2. Guitar 2 plays an open string chord on strings 1, 2, and 3. You may use pim or ima rasgueados for the right hand. Guitar 3 plays the open 6th string with p.

All music will be played by rote. The instructor plays and/or sings the melody. Students may also enjoy singing after absorbing the lesson. Make sure to ask for careful dynamic shaping, fantastic tone and smooth legato.

Keep in mind that, even though this is a carefully constructed technical piece of music, the primary goal of this - and every - piece of music should be joyful, expressive music making.
