This arrangement serves a wide range of possible levels. Parts 1a, 2a, and 3 are integral to the arrangement, while parts 1b and 2b provide less advanced options for students at earlier levels. As always, focus on warm, beautiful tone, careful dynamic shaping, and solid ensemble rapport.

Part 1a provides players with the opportunity to play in 7th position. Ask players to create a mental map of the 7th position, reminding them that most notes found in upper positions also exist in lower positions. For example: The ā€˜eā€™ on the open first string is also found on the second string, fret 5; and the third string, fret 9.

Part 2a requires players to play 3 and 4 note chords. This part also requires precise counting to play syncopated rhythms correctly.

Part 3 is a walking bass line. Remind players to include subtle dynamic contours. Most of the notes should be played with the right hand thumb.
