Etude, Op.6, no. 3

Region:
Spain
Style:
Classical
Composer:
Sor, Fernando

This piece can be played in many combinations. The core parts are 1a and 2c. These parts were divided into parts 1b, 2a and 2b to provide a wider variety of skill levels. You may choose to use 2a and 2b in place of 2c. You may choose to use 1b in place of 1a. You may include or exclude part 3 (this material does not exist in Sor’s original). You may choose to assign players for every part. Students should be encouraged to “play the rests.” It is important that they understand the role of negative space in creating a musical effect. The students should also be encouraged to exaggerate the articulations and dynamic markings. If you choose to include the bassline (part 3), you should have these students practice the im alterations found in ms. 32-40 as a warm up exercise.
