All Wound Up

"All Wound Up" is a lively piece by Matthew Hinsley that utilizes numerous extended techniques on the guitar while focusing on early development of IM alternation. All parts in “All Wound Up” are Level 3 and all parts play a melodic segment at some point. There is percussion and long glissando sliding used frequently throughout the piece and the students typically enjoy the departure. Approach this piece from measure 11 part two. Teach all students this recurring theme and then move on to the beginning percussion. This is a fantastic piece to learn alternation because there is very little string crossing involved and a lot of repetition.
