We love special projects. These are opportunities for students to collaborate with others in a new way, create something that’s never been made before, or perhaps perform in an exciting new venue.
We just released a new video of one of our most ambitious special projects, and we wanted to share it with you. Over 9 months from conception to performance, this project represents on a large scale the power music has to bring people together.
It featured 70 guitarists spanning an age range of over 60 years, three magnificent professional musicians, captivating visuals, and a non-stop performance time of over 35 minutes!
If you’d like to see HOME: The Elements, you can watch the movie online here or read more about the project and performers here. GuitarCurriculum has a number of Special Projects ready for you to try, and, as always, we’re standing by to help answer questions.
Check out our special projects page that includes videos, scores, parts, and production instructions if you’d like to try one in your classroom!
Working with young learners in schools is one of our greatest joys. The Elements was a big group effort. Hearing from student performers about how transformative the experience was has motivated us, and reminded us that young guitarists can contribute meaningfully to rigorous artistic endeavors.
