Scales & Exercises
Level
3

The scales in level 3 should be played with i-m alternation in the right-hand with big-knuckle strokes. Use the four-repeated notes to help students become more comfortable with alternation and string crossings.

Teach the single note G Major scale with careful attention to how the student is crossing between strings. Watch for and correct repeated strokes.

Although scales are an important part of any instrumentalist's development, beautiful ensemble music making should always be the priority in a classroom.
