Transylvanian Folk Song is an arrangement of a traditional song from 16th century Hungary. Much of the music you have performed from GuitarCurriculum was written very recently for classroom guitar students like you, but the classical guitar is part of a much older musical tradition, one that goes back thousands of years. It’s an incredible opportunity that musicians have, to look back in time through music, and in this case, over 500 years back in time!
In Transylvanian Folk Song you will continue learning to read and play notes on the 4th, 5th and 6th strings with right hand thumb (p) strokes and use alternation on strings 1-3. The melody is calm, peaceful, and a little spooky. Think about ways to bring out the character of this music as you are working with your ensemble.
