Leap of Leaps
Level
4

Leap of Leaps is a piece that uses rolled chords, harmonics, and pizzicato. These are techniques that add different qualities of sound to our music. Chords make music sound full and big, harmonics make music sound light and delicate, and pizzicato makes music sound poppy and punchy.

While you have already encountered rolled chords and harmonics in your playing, it is likely you have yet to encounter pizzicato. It’s simple - just rest the palm of your right hand (on the pinky side of your hand) on top of the strings right at the bridge of the guitar. Then use your P finger to pluck the string as you normally would. What you should hear is a sound that is muted, percussive, and “plunky”. It is an interesting and unique sound, so be patient and take the time to master this cool technique!
