“Hey Ho, Nobody Home” is a fun and catchy beginning level 1 piece.
Copy or project the coloring page version of the vocal melody and begin by teaching the Guitar 2 part for which students will plant p on string 4 and play the open string “e-minor” chord on strings 1, 2 and 3 using i-m-a “rasgueados.” Rasgueados are accomplished by curling the fingers into the hand and lightly “flicking” all three fingers outward to activate strings 1, 2 and 3 at the same time.
Because no left-hand fingering is required for this piece, and because the thumb planting on string 4 makes accurately playing strings 1, 2 and 3 quickly achievable, Hey Ho Nobody Home is a great beginning piece that will be fun and satisfying.
