This piece focuses on the level 3 skill of im alternation while keeping string crossing to a minimum. The students play a standard 12-bar blues progression. Each player gets a chance to play all three different roles within the piece (bass, middle voice, and melody). The character marking at the beginning of the piece requires the students to play with “swing.” It is best to teach this skill by providing an accurate model.
