6d. Descending Arpeggios

Descending Arpeggios

Descending arpeggios (i.e. PMI or PAMI) require all fingers prepare by extending simultaneously, but only one finger is placed on the string at a time. For example, in a PAMI arpeggio, when the thumb plays, all fingers of the hand extend, but only the A finger is placed on the string. As the A finger plays, the M finger prepares by planting itself on the string above. M plays and I finger is placed on the string above. The I finger plays and thumb (P) is placed on the string above. Sequence is repeated. Descending PMI arpeggios follow an identical sequence with the omission of the A finger.
